I know, it’s been a while since I’ve actually penned anything here. And truthfully, I haven’t felt the urge to regurgitate the already abundant rantings on social media and twitter.
That being said I ‘ve had a couple of invites in the past week so Im going to check them out and get back by the end of the week with some thoughts, views and reviews.
Kwippy is a Twitter like IM, microblogging utility. Yes, I know. Another one. This one appears to have a few different twists to it. More than the restricted 140 characters for starters.
I’ll play with it a bit and see what the results are by the end of the week. Will this be another time suck? Oh for sure, but it may be fun so why not.
I guess the biggest point of interest here is getting in at the Beta stage. The whole early adopter mentality, though it’s debatable, other than the I was first here, what it’s worth in the long run.
Will Kwippy give Twitter and Pownce and some of the others a run for there money? It does seem to be picking up some leverage and user base over the passed few weeks form what I’ve been seeing.
I’ll go and play for a bit and see how it feels.
Next on my list of “what to try out this week” is Socialmedian
Socialmedian is another in the beta phase. It’s a news sharing site that allows you to share your favorite stories, news clips with your friends there and in other social sites. Same ol same ol?
Pretty simple again really. Not a Digg clone but something with a twist. Though I can already see a problem with the multiple networks section. Is there really a need for 20 networks about web 2.0? Should they not all be grouped together? I’m just sayin’.
Anyway, I’ll be there all week and picking it apart to see what works for me and what sucks dog balls. The GUI looks pretty user friendly.
Of course my struggle with all this is finding what works for me and not allowing attention to be spread out over the other 999 sites that will suck my time and productivity.
To be able to combine the social aspect of it all and still be productive. Being a freelancer there is always the temptation to avoid actual real billable work. Never a good thing. At least at this point for me.
So, that’s my plan of attack for this week along with some ongoing projects. More on those later. Let’s see if I can save you some grief and frustration this week.
