The Digg vs. Mixx Debate

November 28, 2007 By: Paul Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Let me start this off by saying right from the hop here that this is not a bashing session. I use both Digg and now Mixx regularly. Though I will say the tone over at Mixx is quite a bit friendlier. That said it looks like there will be a lot of action over at Mixx. Though there is of course the obligatory bashing for the most part it’s just a good sharing community in Web 2.0 fashion. One that is growing very nicely.
From the “glad to see you back” when you sign in to your account to the emails about friends that allow the experience to be, well warm and fuzzy. Similar to the verbiage over at Digg. Some good content being passed around and along with that not quite as much of the juvenile antics of some of the more rash Diggrs.
Hopefully there will be little of that there, either way it will keep the moderators busy.
In a recent interview with Brian Wallace over at Collective Thoughts Mixx founder Chris McGill gave some quick insight into what will/may be coming up over at the new social media news site.
There’s more than enough room for more in this area, so should there really be any debate? Can not both survive and thrive. Of course they can. It will be interesting to see what Chris and company have up there sleeve in the next few weeks.

Facebook PPC Trials and Whining…

November 24, 2007 By: Paul Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

Well it’s been two weeks since Facebook launched their version of the PPC advertising.
Seems it has a lot of people winning and an equal amount whining. Too many restrictions, samurai sword like cuts to a multitude of people who aren’t in “compliance” with the strict policies they have in place.

Some have learned how to play the game though, listen up and learn folks, you can win with this one, and win big. Just like back in days of old when Google first introduced us to it.

Ed knows, and he’s going to tell you how.

Black Friday and Social Marketing

November 24, 2007 By: Paul Category: Uncategorized No Comments →

Hey it’s Black Friday again and the crowds are going south. Here in Toronto we’ve just dug ourselves out of the first major bit of snow for the winter. More to come you can be sure of that one. Amazing how we live in a country where it snows every year like clockwork. Every year it’s like nobody here has ever seen snow before and forgets how to drive.

And the crowds of Canadians are running as fast as they can to the other side of the border for the massive Black Friday salesathon experience. It’s a good thing the loonie is doing so good these days, though I did notice a big drop in my exchange rates Wednesday morning.

Someone passed this over to me the other day when we were talking about directin of media and the world at large. What are we all heading for with the social marketing and what is the world going to be like in the next 10 or 15 years because of it? Sure there’s predictions and suppositions but this may give you a better glimpse. Check it out.
